The agreement

Terms of service

Last updated 5 October 2026

By creating an account or subscribing to a plan, you agree to what follows.

Your account

Accounts are created through Google sign-in. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping access to the Google account behind it. Tell us at [email protected] if you believe someone else is using it.

Plans and what they include

The Free plan needs no card. Paid plans — Standard, Pro and Ultra — are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly at the price shown on the plans page when you subscribe. Each plan opens the courses on its tier and every tier below it, and the tools and daily allowances listed for it there, for as long as the subscription is active. Daily allowances, such as game reviews and Guess the Elo games, reset at midnight UTC and do not carry over.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the plans page; the plan stays open until the end of the period you have already paid for, and is not charged again.

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, who act as the merchant of record and handle billing, invoices and sales tax. Their name appears on your statement.

Your licence

Your plan gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to study the material on this site, and to export course lines as PGN for your own study. You may not resell, republish or redistribute the material, or share your account so that others can use it.

Refunds

Covered separately in the refund policy — within 14 days of any payment, for a valid reason (such as a faulty course or feature) backed by proof.

Chess.com and Lichess

Blind Spots and Guess the Elo read public game data from chess.com and Lichess. Those sites are not affiliated with us, and we cannot guarantee their data is complete or always available.

Fair use of the training features

XP, records and the leaderboard exist to make practice enjoyable. Automating drills, tampering with reported times, or running scripts against the site to manufacture a score may result in the scores being reset or the account being closed. Ordinary play, however fast, is never a problem.

What we promise, and what we do not

We work to keep the site available and the course lines correct, and we fix mistakes when they are reported. We cannot promise uninterrupted availability, and the material is educational: no opening repertoire guarantees a result over the board.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim relating to the site or a purchase is limited to what you paid for that purchase. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

These terms may change. When they do, we will update the date at the top of this page, and email subscribers about any change that affects their plan before it applies to their next renewal.
